Bin day is the most magical time of the week! Children of all ages cry "Which bins is it?! Oh! Which bins?"
Is today recycling day? Or green waste day? Or humble landfill day? Should my food caddy go out? Gosh! Who can keep track? I mean, obviously I could look at my calendar. Or sign up for free SMS alert. Or use push notifications in their app. But where's the fun in that?
Fantastic work Terry, and a pleasure dealing with you as always. We're working on that open API and will get it to you ASAP. We'll then get it hosted on our open data platform like York City have done

Going to be looking at doing the same with Leeds/Bradford/Halifax. Will let you know how I get along.

hi,
how about a simplified version of this app?
set a collection day for a specific user from monday to friday 'bin day' then apply the following rule:
first week of the year = week a second week of the year = week b
or maybe let user define "this week = week a" or "next week = week b"
then
week a = food, recycling and rubbish week b = food, recycling and garden waste
so the cycle is week a , week b , week a , week b and so on, where 'week a' was first week of 2019
the variables are 'rubbish' and 'garden waste', food and recycling is collected every week.
how do I write a skill that will tell me on sunday afternoon what bin to take out next week. or tell me the day before collection day which bin to take out?
thank you!
The problem is that bank holidays and things like that can really mess up your schedule.
Geza says:
bank holiday delays collection with 1 day. 25, 26 december collection will be made on same day following week with extra bags of waste allowed
I personally found a "cheat" and added an event called 'garden waste' this Monday and I've added repeat every 14 days, then I added an event called 'rubbish' next Monday with 14 days repeat cycle. So as long as I remember to ask Alexa on Sunday what's in my calendar for next week I will know exactly which bin to take out.
